Scottish born Chicago resident Claire Ashley will bring her neon-inflected DIY inflatable sculptures to the H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery at El Centro College with her solo show, “Fluorescent Pop”.

This will be the first Texas show for Ashley, an MFA graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has shown extensively in and around Chicago, including exhibitions and projects at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago; Chicago Cultural Center; Rockford Museum of Art, Rockford IL; and Art Santa Fe Project Space, Santa Fe NM.

In the words of the artist, “I have explored many approaches to object making to get at my desire for this conglomeration of painting and sculpture. In so doing, my work with inflatable sculptures has been the most satisfying. I find the inflatable form compelling, as it exists in two states: both as flaccid skin (painting) and taut volume (sculpture).”
